A delicious dark ale with an intriguing roasty character. It is rich and flavorful with a hint of bittersweet chocolate.

Dark color with red tinges. A thin tan head immediatly after pour. The head quickly dissipates. Minimal chocolate aroma. Palate is watery and weak. Flavor is kinda tangy. Not what I lok for in a porter.

Thos bottle was all hype. Nice enogh nose, but this was watered down, and, lacking . The very first sip was nice, but right after it hits the tongue, there is nothing there./ Thanxs for the trade though.

Roasty aroma, buttery too. Almost black body, with a small tan head. Light roasty flavor, butter again. I really dislike butter flavors in beer!

Bottle purchased at Hop and Leaf February 2005. Filtered brown color, which after pouring, quickly becomes a transparent brownish-mahogany with some light garnet highlights on the edges. At first there is some cream/yellow head, but it quickly fades to nothing. Aroma, ah what’s this, a slightly promising aroma? There is definite, though muted smoke in there (light wood, charcoal, burnt coffee) with some light choco-caramel tones and perhaps a touch of yeast. Flavor, unfortunately, dosent keep up with the aroma and I’m left with a watery smoked-water sort of concoction with little to no malt substance to it and a horribly thin and watery body. Actually, I wasnt left with it, the grass that I poured it on was.

Bottle from SpringsLicker. Nice deep brown color. Fairly insignificant tannish head. No lacing. Aroma is sweetish, little sour notes and chocolatey. Thin bodied. Smooth mouthfeel. Roasted grain flavors up front, lactic in the middle. A little clingy on the palate.

I don’t quite know if my bottle was long past its prime or if this is supposed to taste like this....anyhow here goes. The aroma is alcoholic and sour with hints of lactic sourness...bitterly astringent and aromatic. The pour is a dark brown with a milky tan head and a nice bit of lacing on my glass. The flavor is heavily carbonated, lactic, sour and almost lambic-like... bittering acidity runs rampant throughout this beer. Some chocolate and smoke hints, but overall it tasted nearly lambic-like which does not rule out the possibility for infection, but it seems like a common problem with this beer. I’m not overly impressed here.

A black beer with a collapsing brown head. The of butteracid, roasted malt, as well as hints of chocolate. The flavor also contains butteracid, roasted malt, and chocolate, besides hints of coffee.

Bottled: Reddish brown coloured. Brownish medium sized head. Buttery, roasted coffee aroma. Flavour is fruity with loads of coffee. Is a bit thin bodied. Not much going on in the end. Light roast. Thanks to Springslicker for this.
