I had this while on vacation and stopped in at the Smoky Mountain Brewery. Served in a ice cold one liter mug. Had to leave it sit for awhile to warm up. Very dark brown, almost black color, with little to no head. Smells of molasses and slight roasty cocoa. Taste is pleasant. Very smooth, good mouthfeel. Get a very good thick/heavy mouthfeel for a porter. Very drinkable, leaves the mouth in good taste without coating it with flavor. Very good roastiness and dark cocoa flavor in the taste. A very good regular offering. If you’re visiting the brewery, this is a very solid beer/choice.

Had this on tap at the Copper Cellar in Knoxville. Poured to a dark, used motor oil black, with thick tan head and good lacing. Had a malty aroma predominantly of licorice, with hints of chocolate. Flavor was a sweet chocolate toffee, and the alcohol made itself known at mid-glass. The spicy mouthfeel led to a sweet, though somewhat watery, finish. Not a bad porter at all.

Pours a mostly black with a small brown foam cap. Aroma of slight smoked malt, cream, chocolate. Dry. Not as tasty in the mouth, a little thin, with a good combination of nitro-like dryness and milky sweetness. A touch of lacticity in the finish is its biggest flaw. A very decent porter.

From a recent trade. Clear brown brew with barely a layer of head. Nose and the flavor are modest and a bit shy. There is a bit of roasted notes here but not much.

Had on draft at their Gatlinburg location. Could taste the chocolate flavors throughout. I also agree it did have a roasty character to it.

Aroma is very nice...loaded with rich chocolate and roast. Flavor doesn’t meet up with the aroma though. Kinda of a let down. Flavor is somehwat roasty with a bit of bitterness at the end. Drinkable, but not impressive.

My thanks to Suttree for this one. This beer is dark, with only the lightest red hue. Little carbonation, but some brown foam lingering on top of the beer. It smells better than it tastes. There is some smoke, coffee and chocolate, and lots of roasted character. Flavor has some sweet potato and more roasted malt, with only a hint of coffee. A little bit sour in the finish.

Very roasty. Chocolate flavor didn’t hit me hard. I can’t really remember though. I only remember quaffing this one.
