Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Almost non-aromatic with only a faint hint of raisins. Black pour with an enormous brown head. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Flavors are of stewed prunes, horehound, and charcoal. When you throw it down hard you can taste licorice. Somewhat grassy finish. Drinks like an imp stout, but far less bitter.

Tap @ Rattle’N’Hum. Black pour with nice brown head. Aromas and flavors galore, from dark fruits and licorice to chocolate and hops. I feel like this could meld better.

Bottle. Pours close to black with a big tan head. The aroma has dark fruits, dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, and a creamy sweetness. The flavor has roasted malts, dark fruits, a light espresso like sweetness and lighter notes of molasses and dark chocolate. Very good.

22oz bottle thanks big time to Cletus, 2008 vintage. Pours a very dark hue with a medium creamy brown head. The instant I open this beer a aroma wafts out that instantly tells me I am in for a awesome drink. The aroma is rich roasted malts, dark fruits and cocoa- not an overwhelming nose. The flavor was excellent; instantly I get my fix for my favorite flavor; loads of rich oily dark fruits. Very nice. There is tons of toasted cocoa and light coffee as well. Silky and fruity at first, as it warmed the burnt flavors of cocoa were more prevalent. Overall, top notch. A gem.

bomber from grape & gourmet. pours a oily, deep, dark brown with a thin, dark tan head and great lacing. aroma is excellent with big, dark, roasted malts, vinous fruits, black cherry, a touch of dark chocolate and coffee and a hint of boozy, spiced rum. flavor is fantastic with huge, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, and ripe red fruits with hints of spiced raisin and toasted nuts. palate is full bodied and silky with a light, boozy warmth and a long, bittersweet finish. overall, and excellent porter.
