Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. (Rating #2539)

Wooowww. Finally I have this gem in my hands! Hey, for five bucks you can’t beat this. 22 bomber for five bucks. The roasted flavors are those of nuts, chocolate, dark candied fruits, a smoke swig of nuttiness, and lots of roasted toffee/coffee/wheat/malted barley flavors. Perfect porter here. Just fantastic, and worth the wait!!

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours a mean-looking black with a large foamy tan head. Nose is roast, dark fruit, spice, dark chocolate, slight boozy raisins, and some alcohol burn. Flavor is mellow baltic porter, lots of great roast and fruit. Flavor finishes with slightly dry roast. Medium to full-bodied and lovable.

Bomber from Jans Wine and Boos #2 (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown to black with massive one finger tan foamy head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, caramel, rum-soaked raisins, some hints of honey and coffee. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, ripe dark fruit, molasses, raisins, hints of honey and grain. Generally medium body with a malty and spicy finish.

Everything you want in a porter. Complexity and comfort all in one with semi-sweet chocolate dominating the aroma with bitter hops and dairy in their as well. Flavor is more of the same with what reminds me of a hefty wood in their to balance some sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied but very creamy and a light fizz at the end from the carbonation. Well rounded tasty brew. Thanks Smuttynose. 2009 22 oz. on recommendation from Scott at Oak Tree Buy Rite.

Draft at Brass Tap, thanks to Gillard. Poured jet black with a creamy, dense tan head leaving lots of lacing on the glass. Strong coffee and roasted malt in the nose. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and good carbonation. Flavor is somewhat sweet with lots of coffee notes, roasted malt, and dark chocolate notes are also present. Creamy, slightly bitter finish. Good.
