malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jul 19, 2009 On tap at Novare Res. Dark brown with dense head. Mocha ice cream aroma. Robust roasted coffee chocolate with minimal lager grassiness and nice roasted finish. NIce body and mouthfeel. Probably my favorite baltic porter, as I’m not much of a fan of the style. cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2009 Sturdy black pour with towering mocha head. Pretty. Totally burnt offering to smell here, with wisps of chocolate, vanilla and almonds. Little bit of a figgy deep fruited quality to taste and the viscous chewy body was super velvety. The body unfolded quite nicely as the session wore on and deepened in complexity and syrupy goodness. This one falls in the "sip" category and was a face flusher for sure for me. Nicely done. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black abyss with a tan creamy head. Very creamy full body that’s dam near perfect. Chocolate, roast y malt character, chewy raisins, and a vanilla mineral body. Very smooth and well attenuated. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. Arayaga2 (933), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2009 Reddish black in color with deep caramel brown head. Aroma is rich and sweet with burnt treacle notes. Taste is roasty and chocolate heavy, with a viscous mouthfeel, and dark fruit residuals. Reminds me of a more fully fermented version of Oskar Blues Ten Fidy (more drinkable). $5/22oz nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 6, 2009 Source:22 oz bottle shared at a tasting in Nashville.

CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 4, 2009 Happy 4th everyone! Picked this one up at Greens on Ponce, 22 oz. Tried this last night; this was the best porter I have ever had! Holy crap, poured like a stout. Nice chocolate head that looks amazing. Very creamy and smooth palate. Has a lovely palate. Ah....so creamy it is great. The beer has a very pugent ash/roast/stout aroma. This beer is just insane. Can’t belive Smuttynose is offering this one. Not so much coffee, but a lot of ash and roast flavor(s). Can’t believe this porter, but very good. Nice smooth ash/stout/roast flavor that just lingers on the tongue. The alcohol is hidden well. The beer is just so smooth it is insane. Overall, if you have a chance to get this porter do not be a fool and NOT purchase it!. This beer has the best roast/ash aroma that I have ever had. Very much an amazing beer. Cheers everyone! SSSteve (2047), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 2, 2009 black with small very brown head that diminished quickly. big potent espresso, milk chocolate, roasty aroma. milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee, a bit of sweet dark fruit(spiced plum or raisin, kind of christmassy) mid palate. roast dominates. medium bodied. very flavorful with a strong aroma. Bottle: The aroma has lots of chocolate and caramel with some light fruit and just a hint of roastiness. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a moderate tan head. The flavor starts with lot of chocolate. There’s a hint of fruit (cherry & plum) in the background. The finish has lots if caramel with a hint of roasted coffee. Medium-full bodied with moderate soft carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel.
