Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. bottle from Santa. Thanks Matt! black pour with tan head. aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. Flavor is very nice dark chocolate, dark fruits, some roasty malt notes. Flavor is so rich and chocolatey. Really, stunning and standout for smuttynose. Full on the balate with roasty alcohol finish. Excellent.

22 oz bomber. Poured a dark brownish/black body with a sticky beige head. Aroma of pudding skins, espresso, roastiness, chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma with chocolate and roastinesss being upfront. Palate is medium bodied with an average carbonation. Good stuff all around, solid.

22oz bottle at Coffee District. Pours dark and near black with a tan head. Nose is quite malty. Not much hops to be found. Lots of chocolate and light roast coffee. Rich full body with lots of chocolate flavor and a hint of coffee that peaks through. A very malty porter but at the same time the sweetness never becomes overbearing. This is one of the best porters I’ve had. Definitely Smutty’s best beer. Outstanding.

Bottle. Appearance: Black pour with a full, creamy head. Aroma: Sweet smell of chocolate and coffee. Flavor: Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and some dark fruits. Palate: Full body. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. This is simply excellent. I haven’t sampled many in the category, or even from this brewery, but so far it is my favorite for both.

On tap at Novare Res. Dark brown with dense head. Mocha ice cream aroma. Robust roasted coffee chocolate with minimal lager grassiness and nice roasted finish. NIce body and mouthfeel. Probably my favorite baltic porter, as I’m not much of a fan of the style.

Sturdy black pour with towering mocha head. Pretty. Totally burnt offering to smell here, with wisps of chocolate, vanilla and almonds. Little bit of a figgy deep fruited quality to taste and the viscous chewy body was super velvety. The body unfolded quite nicely as the session wore on and deepened in complexity and syrupy goodness. This one falls in the "sip" category and was a face flusher for sure for me. Nicely done.

Bottle. Pours a black abyss with a tan creamy head. Very creamy full body that’s dam near perfect. Chocolate, roast y malt character, chewy raisins, and a vanilla mineral body. Very smooth and well attenuated. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.

Reddish black in color with deep caramel brown head. Aroma is rich and sweet with burnt treacle notes. Taste is roasty and chocolate heavy, with a viscous mouthfeel, and dark fruit residuals. Reminds me of a more fully fermented version of Oskar Blues Ten Fidy (more drinkable). $5/22oz
