Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. One of my favorite styles. Pours a beautiful inky black with a medium brown, creamy head. Aroma is big and complex. I detect notes of raisin, dark fruits, coffee, caramel, and milk chocolate. Drinks very smooth for the high abv. Coffee and sweet fruits dominate the palate. This is a beautiful beer. Very delicous. This is one will be one of my new favorites. Highly recommended.

Had this the 09 on tap and a 08 bottle yesterday. I went with the dark brews yesterday The brew throws a wonderful tan head that easily can be brought back to life at anytime. A nice film of lace stays with this brew the whole time. The body of the brew was black with the 08 showing a nice caramel colored highlight when held to the light. The differences between the two years are quite interesting. The 08 was huge in the oak and bourbon flavors and smell. Where the 09 bottle had a lot more dark fruits and other spice aroma and flavors going on. Mouthfeel on both was medium to full with great carbonation. Drinkability was awesome I easily drank a couple glasses. Looking at the two years side by side, I will say I liked this years a little more than last

Pours like black coffee with a tiny tan head. Nose is of dark cocoa with faint roasted coffee bean smell. Taste is watery, flavors are very flat, light coffee, light cocoa, nothing shines at all, and too high of carbonation.

Bottle via trade from ben4321. Thanks, Ben, this beer was awesome. Pours black with a thick tan head and good retention. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roast, smoke, and dark fruit. Flavor is smoky with some meaty notes (which is a good thing IMO). Also roasted malt, coffee, rich chocolate, berries, and raisins. Palate is smooth and creamy with fairly full body and lingering smoke. Really good Baltic porter overall.

Sample provided by Smokepot23 at AleSmiths tasting bar: Black with a light brown head. Aroma of rich dark chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, coffee and raisin with a hint of smoke. Light coffee bitterness. Medium body is smooth with moderate carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Pours black with a thick, brown, long lasting head. The aroma is chocolate malt, dark fruit and brown sugar. Full body, some tartness. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, dark fruit. Fruity sweetness nicely balanced with coffee bitterness. Finish is enormous, long lasting and very balanced. Simply great!

Pours black with a fizzy orange/brown head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee with a touch of fruit and brown sugar. The flavor is tart and sugary sweet with a burnt, roasted finish. Very soft mouthfeel despite the lively carbonation. Tasty beer, but it lacks the fruitiness I expected from the style.

Bomber from Beerlando. Pours an opaque black. Nose is rich, roasty and acrid. Notes of dried cherries and coffee, as wll as alcohol. On taste, it is robust and sweet. Quite bitter with a kick of alcohol. Distantly phenolic and deep. This is a pretty interesting beer, albeit somewhat overpowering. Good.
