Aroma is very fruity with dark fruit like plum and raisin as well as light anise notes becoming apparent. Taste is light chocolate, dark fruit, and caramel malt. Alcohol is well hidden and the beer finishes smooth and creamy. Good stuff. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA

Robust coffee and cocoa aroma, smells like it’s going to be tannic. Bitter almonds and dark rummy type fruit. Prevalent hop component also with alcohol. Big flavor - immediately a bit too sweet for me, but very nice. Lingering bitter finish. Licorice jelly bean like flavor. Chocolate in there too. Massively fruity - plums, dates. Big bodied. Nicely brewed. coldbrewky (719), Saugerties, New York, USA

This is a luciously smooth, big silky brew. Nose is of ripe fruit and ground up walnuts. The moderate pour generates a heatly rolicking head that tastes great wven when you are slurping it up so it doesn’t stain the precious counter top. Head settles fast as do oily legs. Body is big and full...like godzilla after pillaging Tokyo. A big hit of chocolate malts is accented with coffee in the slightest amount. this is huge since I have been raving on the over use of coffee as an ingredient as of late. It actually works in this beer. A gentle bozziness complimented by a final hint of sweet rasins mixd with sun dried tomatoes eminates from the center of the mouthfeel that leads you stumbling for more in the finish of tingly coffee as the end. A fine, fine brew. PilsnerPeter (2612), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2008 Bottle: Near opaque pour with only a hint of light coming through at the edges. It also has a nice deep brown head. Charred aroma, along with an odd "sour milk" character- burnt dark fruits, lightly smoky/tobacco, a bit odd in the nose. The mouthfeel is creamy and mildly carbonated. Nice and dense. Lots of burnt character- dark fruits upfront, leading to more earthy character. Nice smooth booziness is present- dark chocolate liqueur balanced by some dark piny notes. Peppery and boozy overall with a balancing piny, espresso roast in the finish. A solid Baltic Porter.
