Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Bottled. A pitch black beer with an orangey-brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt, chocolate, and cittrus. The flavor is sweet and acidic from the rosted malt combined with notes of alcohol and lighter notes of soy sauce. The alcohol burns the tongue and palate.

Very dark brown with thick dark brown head. Chocolatey, coffeeish nose with a slight (and rather unfortunate) phenolic note. Hot, with a harsh astringent coffee bean note. Unbalanced - not enough residual sugar. More of an impy, and a crap one at that. For one of my favourite breweries and coolest beer styles, this is a huge disappointment.

(22oz bottle, vintage 2008) Large brown head atop solid black body. Aroma is medium sweet, espresso, chocolate, cream. Taste is moderately sweet, rich, chococoffee, some plum, caramel, faint smoke. Some alcohol warming. Smooth, full body with a lovely creaminess and some syrupiness. What a great beer!

Opaque black color, beautiful creamy expresso head, lace. Chocolaty, a bit milky aroma. Very liquerish palate. Roasted, burnt malty flavors. Milky flavors like in some sweet stouts. A bit sticky finish. Smooth and balanced, although not very complex.

TFODRBSG08 Courtesy of MissDolle. It’s pitch black with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roased malt, chocolate, mark fruits and licorice. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dark fruits and it ends on a sweet and slightly roasted bitter note. A really nice baltic porter.
