Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. On tap at Sputyen Duyvil. Deep dark black in color with a medium off white fluffy head. Chocolatety malty roasty aroma. Caramel toffee, nutty notes. Chocolatey hoppy malty flavor. Full bodied. Creamy and smooth palate. Nice beer. Very drinkable.

(bottle - 22 oz - 2009 vintage) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is very roasty with lots of coffee malts and some dark fruits. Flavor is incredibly chocolaty and roasted at the beginning with a mild, fruity middle. Lots of bitter and roasted malts come through at the end. Thick and chewy and really good.

Pours very dark, hints at red and brown. Full foamy head, dark beige in color. Aroma starts with chocolate and espresso, followed by some fruitcake fruitiness, like candied cherries and anise. Flavor is roasty and a bit astringent, with an acrid finish. Very husky. Harsh and unbalanced.

black with small very brown head that diminished quickly. big potent espresso, milk chocolate, roasty aroma. milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee, a bit of sweet dark fruit(spiced plum or raisin, kind of christmassy) mid palate. roast dominates. medium bodied. very flavorful with a strong aroma.

Bomber, thanks LilBeerDoctor Pours opaque, nearly black with a thick and lacy dark tan head.! Big chocolate, coffee and licorice nose that permeates the room. Sweet aroma, more like milk chocolate on closer inspection. Full, creamy body and fine carbonation. Tons of chewy malt and a cascade of flavor: Raisins, oatmeal, coffee, toasted nuts, brown sugar. Dark chocolate finish. This beer is pretty roasty for a Baltic, but I’m completely willing to overlook that because everything else about it is dialed in to why I like this style.

Bottle shared by hopsleeroy. Thanks! Pours dark black with a short lived light tan head. Smell is rich, dense sticky dark fruit, soy sauce and dark chocolate. Taste is much the same with a lot of dark chocolate and some dark fruit to a lesser extent with some dry cocoa notes. Slightly full mouthfeel and normal carbonation. No sign of the ABV either. Overall, a fantastic baltic porter!
