Aromas? well, there’s a bit of dark malt, with some grapefruit or something hoppy, bananas and Hubba Bubba. Pours a dark black with a beautiful dark tan head that persists until the very end of the glass. Aroma of coffee and roast. Flavor of coffee, roast, chocolate, slight raisin as the beer warms. Nice aroma of mild powdered cocoa, slight chocolate. Nice mouthfeel. The taste is quite chocolately and is more intense than the aroma would let on. Aroma of pudding skins, espresso, roastiness, chocolate. Flavor is similar to the aroma with chocolate and roastinesss being upfront. Palate is medium bodied with an average carbonation. Dark chocolate aroma, but not a lot of roast. I like what I’m smelling. I think baltic porters should be more on the chocolate side than burnt roast. There is only the slightest amount of dark fruit or vinous flavors, but those that are there are welcome. This is an extremely well-put-together beer. I like it.
