| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Poured almost a black color with a tan head. Aroma was very boozy, and kind of dry, but with some hints of sweet chocolate. Flavor was much the same, very roasted like most baltic porter, not too sweet, and a bit too boozy for only being 8.7%. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown pour, some tan head. Aroma is some sweet malt, meat, smoke, chocolate, and roasted malt. The flavor is similar, sweet chocolate malt, and some light smoke / meaty flavor in the back and finish. The carbonation was a bit too high though. guzzler67 (1287), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2008 As dark as they come, with a large tan head that leaves lots of lacing. Roasted malt aroma, spiked with bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth, full bodied mouthfeel with modest carbonation. Taste is roasted malt, chicory, cocoa and dark fruit, along with an earthy, woody, nutty flavor. Long lasting finish adds to the pleasure. Really loved this one; just as good as many Impy stouts. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2008 From a 22oz Bottle. Mostly opaque, blackish brown colored pour with a thick layer of tight bubbled tan head. Clean, lagery nose with hints of sulphur. Deep chocolate and lightly roasted coffee. Lots of dark chocolate. Medium full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a chalky texture. Clean, malt forward flavors up front on the palate, brimming with dark chocolate and silky coffee, adding a nice dark depth without any excessive roast. Mid-palate, some fired raisin and plum fruity notes come through, all the while maintaining the malt focus of the beer. Warming alcohol in the finish, along with a kiss of hop bitterness to dry up the rich palate. Overall, a solid example of a Baltic Porter that exhibits a clean lager-like character and uses malt complexity to develop a rich flavor profile rather than relying on ester qualities. Thanks for sharing, Julian! drfabulous (1275), Columbia, Missouri, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 10, 2008 22oz bomber. Deep black color with a moderate beige head. Classic dark sugary sweet alcohol aroma. The taste is full, rich, and malty. Lots of chocolate and roasted malt flavors. The body is full but creamy. This is really one of the best Baltic Porters you’ll find, with all the classic Eastern European characteristics built onto a solid quality grain bill. Top notch. durhambeer (1229), Durham, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Updated: Aug 25, 2009Dark, dark pour and foamy mocha head. Tart aroma including notes of anise, chocolate and soy sauce. Some coffee, maybe chicory (?) sweet chocolate, slight hop finish and some roast. Thick, rich palate. Very easy to drink, and in some ways leaning towards a traditional English porter as much as a Baltic. Damn good either way.
