Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Not bad, but also not necessarily "big," although I guess there’s no arguing with 8.7%. Pours black, but a bit thin. Head is medium sized, with medium staying power. Aroma is a bit mercaptan-like, with some cotton candy, sweet vineous, and some grainy aroma. Flavor is dry and roasty with some sweetness. Flavor is predominantly dry and roasty, with some chocolate notes. Flavor really lingers in your mouth; the dryness is very persistent. Mouthfeel is a weird - a bit thin and sticky at the same time, which seems contradictory but is true. Still, not bad, I’d recommend it. I found this pretty enjoyable. I bought this bottle at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee.

Strong caramel and fruity malt aroma. Black color with a small brown head. Light chocolate taste that gets smoother in the finish. Creamy and slightly chalky palate.

Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of chocolate and coffee. Similar flavors with some dark fruits and alcohol. Moderately sweet. Medium to full body with mild carbonation and a nice creamy mouthfeel.

Thanks to my brother for this!!! Pours a deep rich brown color with light brown head. Aroma is very fruity with dark fruit like plum and raisin as well as light anise notes becoming apparent. Taste is light chocolate, dark fruit, and caramel malt. Alcohol is well hidden and the beer finishes smooth and creamy. Good stuff.

Yikes, what a great beer! On draft and very impressvie. Burnt motor oil pour with immmediate chocolate and coffee notes boomy out above a tastey thick beige head. Cocolate and slight fruit taste with a warm and wonderful mouthfeel. Yes, there is alcohol (might be only drawback on a warm spring day), but it suits the malt quite well.

On tap at The Brass Tap. Pour is black with thick brown head. Nose is dark raosted grain, charred barley, strong coffee and earthy hops. Flavor is Burnt toast, smoky grain, earthiness and coffee. Nice beer.
