Warm dark caramel aroma with darker fruits. Full bodied with creamy carbonation that bites a bit. First tast impression is anise with with some raisin. Plus dark malt. Just a bit sweet. Anise goes and/or turns to coffee. Just the thing for a winter night. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma was chocolate chip pancakes with some massive malt. A little bit of rasins also come into play. The taste was chocolate and malt with some roasted nuts. This had a nice and thick body. Definitely a sipper, but solidly made. BBB63 (4278), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Bomber bottle from Brent and enjoyed in my Stone IRS snifter: Opaque with a fading tan creamy head and left spotty lace in it’s wake. The aroma has notes of charred and chocolate malt, plum and star fruit, molasses and liquorice, coffee and herbal hops, REALLY NICE !!<P> The taste starts with ultra rich malting over a fruity twang supported by some hop and coffee bitterness. Some smoke and earthy qualities on the finish. The mouth feel is lush and oily with just enough carbonation to keep ya very interested, dry and ashy finish.
WOW, What a powerhouse and very well attenuated, a beautiful sipping beer and a must try for any stoutie. Ughsmash (4098), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2008 2008 bomber. Poured clear, very deep browh with a short-lived cap of dark tan head. The aroma was sweet and desserty, and I really dug that.. roasted sweeter chocolates pair with lighter-roast coffee, deeper vinous fruit, and tobacco.. there was also some licorice right at the back. The flavor had a hefty complement of burnt darker malts (semi-sweet chocolate, licorice, and coffee) along with what seemed like dry cardboardey oxidation, ash, and char.. warmer finish with a lot of coffee bitterness, charred coffee, and dark fruit.. this grew on me as the drink progressed. Heavier-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. charred and warm with decent balance (some boozy, sticky licorice at the very end struck me the wrong way).. overall very solid. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA

Milk chocolate aroma with sweet roasted malt and a hint of ash. The flavor was sweet and roasty. Nice warmth with a medium body. The CO2 was a little biting. Sammy (4068), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Brown soapy head, some alce. Full mouthfeel, carbonation is right there. Fiere chocolate is right in front, the finish is coffee, with some sourness running through mid-sip. Appearance: Dark brown brew with neat creamy head on top. Nose :you are welcomed by soft flower aromatic hops , sweet brown malts are next in line , dry roasted mocha feel follows with touch of coco.7+ Flavor/Palate : Drinking experience was bolder. Straight fast coming quality dark roasted wave, slight smoky hints. Smooth with roast, malty middle end. Alcohol was semi dry hinting that further maturing mish be beneficial. Quality was apparent but it was missing character or old Poland.14+

(4+) Aroma is big up front and gets shy later, has a lightly acidic note to dark malts, touch of mocha. Flavour is rather nice, rich sweet malt base with accents of acidity and hoppy bitterness, notes of herbal or anise in the back. Smooth medium body. Rather nice. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo
