Lots of roasted malts, chocolate & coffee, & dark fruits. A bit ashy - only pleasant. Smooth! Round & vinous. Very nice! egajdzis (3625), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light smoke, pine, and floral hops. Taste of more smoke, chocolate, roast, dark fruits, raisins, and vanilla, with a bit of alcohol in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Bomber. Pours a nice deep dark almsot black with a nice thin lasting tan head. Aroma is green, earthy and herbal hops- typical smutty- similar to the impy stout aroma- but with nice chocolate malts but also some greet acetaldehyde- too new? Chocolate and nuts in the flavor, a bit of tar, licorice, and anise- bitter hoppy and dark chocolate finish- phenolic and a touch of yeast. Relatively smooth overall- although I get a bit of alcohol as it warms. Pretty good overall- but a bit young and very green (hoopy, new and acetaldehyde). Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Great burnt malt aroma with rich, quality chocolate and tons of bitterness and a sturdy head. Flavors both hoppy and roasty with dry cocoa in the finish. I hope this beer finds its way into every beer lovers hands because it FUCKIN ROCKS! blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Pours pitch black with a large frothy diminishing light-brown head -- looks pretty much as good as a Porter can. Aroma: Oh wow that smells good! Roasted malt, lots of herbal hops, notes of coffee & chocolate, molasses, a hint of smoke and dark fruit -- very nice! Flavour of rich roasted malt, slightly sweet, again lots of herbal hops, some coffee, some earthiness & smoke, molasses and dark fruit. Nice roasty bitter finish. Alcohol’s well hidden, it’s pretty much not noticeable. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied. I thought this would be good but I didn’t think it would be this good, this is a fantastic Porter, in fact it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Well done! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Bottle. Black pour with a dense, fluffy brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, dark oily coffee beans, roasted malt, and licorice. Taste is more licorice, roasted malts, dark, bittersweet chocolate, espresso and light caramel. Body is thick, chewy and slightly oily with a dense, bubbly carbonation. Gets creamy in spots and dry towards the end. The finish is bigger bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, stronger coffee notes and more licorice. Nice stuff! PorterPounder (3137), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 12, 2009 Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 22 oz bomber. Black coffee pour, nice creamy khaki colored head that leaves light lacing. Delectable aroma with some licorice, coffee, fresh black earth. Full-bodied flavor with strong earthy notes. Lots of fresh black dirt, some day old coffee, hints of licorice and a hint of soy sauce saltiness - but not in a bad way. Some chocolate makes its way in the back end as well. Thick, rich, creamy mouthfeel. An excellent companion for a rainy Saturday watching football.
