Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Malty sweet with a lot of chocolate and roast in the flavor and aroma. The mouthfeel is incredibly creamy and velvety. Much more body than I anticipated. No trace of alcohol. A pleasure to drink. One of their best.

Bottle: Near black pour with a large, fluffy tan head. Clumpy lacing. Sweet aroma of dark fruits, mocha, roastiness, and a heavy coffee presence. Flavor is heavy with coffee up front, but it almost seems like there is a creamer in the tail? Plenty of roast and a little bittersweet dark chocolate. Smooth and creamy mouthful. Enjoyable. Thanks to The_Epeeist for this trade item.

22 oz bottle. I agree, this one rocks... but Smuttynose is known to be good. It’s nice to finally see some baltics making it into the arena, as I’ve long known of them but not had much chance to find them. Dark black, almost on the stout level, with a creamy off white head... it tastes as all the others have said with chocolate and smoke predominent... I like it, and will get more.

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with a 1/2 inch chocolatey head. Thick burnt malt, roasted, and coffee aroma. Taste was thick full flavor of coffee, roastedness and a creaminess aspect. Palate was thick and full.

Pours a very dark brown color with a nice sized foamy, tan colored head that leaves nice rings of lace around the glass. The aroma is nice and shows dark chocolate, toasted caramel, roasted coffee, and bittersweet cocoa. Some earthy hops come through as well. The flavor is just as malt forward as the nose lets on with rich chocolate and sweet caramel up front followed by roasted coffee, and some earthy hop bitterness. Medium to full bodied and really smooth and easy drinking with good carbonation with a lingering roasty finish. This is a great example of the style and a very tasty brew at that.

Sturdy black pour with towering mocha head. Pretty. Totally burnt offering to smell here, with wisps of chocolate, vanilla and almonds. Little bit of a figgy deep fruited quality to taste and the viscous chewy body was super velvety. The body unfolded quite nicely as the session wore on and deepened in complexity and syrupy goodness. This one falls in the "sip" category and was a face flusher for sure for me. Nicely done.

Pours pitch black with mahogany edges when held up to light. The mocha head is one inch thick and dense, lingers a while and leaves sporadic lacing throughout. Big smell of roasted coffee and malts up front. Dark chocolate aroma as well with some dark fruits, but it’s the sweet malts that steal the show. Roasted coffee and sweet malts also dominate the taste with a sweet molasses and dark fruit flavor as well. I also got some very subtle smoky tones as well. Very well balanced. This is one smooth beer with little carbonation and a nice palate coating mouthfeel. This is one of the better baltic porters I have tasted and I would seek this one out. Highly recommended!
