Dec 17, 2009 Thanks to Cletus for this one. Pours really dark with a huge foamy tan head. Warm dark caramel aroma with darker fruits. Full bodied with creamy carbonation that bites a bit. First tast impression is anise with with some raisin. Plus dark malt. Just a bit sweet. Anise goes and/or turns to coffee. Just the thing for a winter night.

Oct 23, 2009 Sample provided by Smokepot23 at AleSmiths tasting bar: Black with a light brown head. Aroma of rich dark chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, coffee and raisin with a hint of smoke. Light coffee bitterness. Medium body is smooth with moderate carbonation.

Jun 14, 2009 Bottle sampled on 5/22/08: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark toasty caramel and roasted malts with a touch of black cherries. Body starts fairly full, rich and dark caramely sweet with some sticky roasty smoky character and raisin flavor before a doughy dark chocolate finish. A nice Baltic porter.

Apr 7, 2008 Poured an almost opaque black with a brown head. Milk chocolate aroma with sweet roasted malt and a hint of ash. The flavor was sweet and roasty. Nice warmth with a medium body. The CO2 was a little biting.

Mar 29, 2008 This Porter was recommended by the bartender at Capital Ale House. It was super. Deep black clor with a brownish head. The head dissapated. It is a bold porter rasins and coffee flavors.

Dec 18, 2008 Pours with a black body topped by a medium thick to thick, brown head with a good amount of lacing left on the glass. It is sweet and malty wiht a note of chocolate and a little roast, as well as a touch of fruity alcohol esters. Full bodied, smooth and a touch warming.

Sep 10, 2009 Bottled. A pitch black beer with an orangey-brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt, chocolate, and cittrus. The flavor is sweet and acidic from the rosted malt combined with notes of alcohol and lighter notes of soy sauce. The alcohol burns the tongue and palate.

Apr 23, 2008 22 oz bottle: Beautiful pour ... cascading tan head, settling into a soapy foam over dark black. The aroma is thick and big, smoky and chocolatey. Drinks with a thick oily complexion, the slight warming aspect the first impression. The flavor leans towards burnt chocolate, bad coffee, and a bit of ashy smokiness. Good. (#3433, 4/23/2008)
