Commercial Description:
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. Bottle. Black pour with a dense, fluffy brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, dark oily coffee beans, roasted malt, and licorice. Taste is more licorice, roasted malts, dark, bittersweet chocolate, espresso and light caramel. Body is thick, chewy and slightly oily with a dense, bubbly carbonation. Gets creamy in spots and dry towards the end. The finish is bigger bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, stronger coffee notes and more licorice. Nice stuff!

Small light brown head, good retention and a nice scattered lacing. Black in color, opaque. Darkly fruity nose, hint of raisin, chocolate, cocoa with a light roastiness. Body is med/full, silky on the palate. Choco roast flavors up front, medium sweet malts, light black patent notes, notes of vanilla bean, coffee and some berry notes as well. An almost dry, roasty finish. May not be a Baltic Porter exactly to style but it,s damn tastey stuff for sure. Bottle procured @statelineliquors.

bottle, from Julio’s. Good aroma, sweet and bitter. Chocolate, coffee, I’m getting marshmellow. Blackish brown color, good head, ok lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Like aroma. Thick body, oily creamy mouthfeel, though I thought it got liter as it warmed, bitter dry finish. Tasty brew, flavor was favorite part. stayed constant through out it’s consuming. Nice mix on the bitterness and sweetness.

22 oz bottle. Rich unfiltered black beer. Thick dark brownish head. The aroma is quite authentic initially, sweet salty roasted barley, dark chocolate and a bittersweet toasted character. Behind the sweet/toasted malt character is a fairly distracting DMS-like cooked vegetable flavour. Otherwise, it is rich and chocolatey with a lot of bitter chocolate, salted roast and soft lean malts. Some coffeeish flavour on the back. It’s got some very good points about it, but there are also some serious flaws.

Bomber from Beerlando. Pours an opaque black. Nose is rich, roasty and acrid. Notes of dried cherries and coffee, as wll as alcohol. On taste, it is robust and sweet. Quite bitter with a kick of alcohol. Distantly phenolic and deep. This is a pretty interesting beer, albeit somewhat overpowering. Good.

Bottle from CBX. Yum. Great BP, among the best I’ve had, not that I’ve had a ton of these. Thumbs up.
