SoLan (1367), Orlando, Florida, USA May 6, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Murky brown/amber, 2cm frothy tan cap. Rich, sweet malt, dark dried and fresh fruit, bitter and resinous hops. Not very complex, but tasty. Full body, balanced carbonation. Solid. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 4, 2007 Deep amber orange beer with a thin lace. Aroma is very sweet and caramelly with an intense fruity character as well. There is a bit of cherry and sweet citrusy hops over the malts as well. Warming intensifies the fruity components as well. The flavour is nice, but not as well integrated as the aroma might suggest. An overly intense bitterness for a brew where the estery component is so strong in the nose. Sweet brown sugar and caramelly malts. A light piney flavour late on the palate. theisti (1637), Leawood, Kansas, USA Apr 16, 2007 Bottle, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Bottle provided by csbosox, thanks Chris! Hazy - cloudy pour with a bunch of particulates. Tiny white head on pour. Aroma is malt, some spiciness in it. Taste is nice malt, with the spice coming through. A bit of alcohol comes through in the taste, though not overpowering. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Apr 14, 2007 2006 22 oz. bottle via my Secret Santa - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a 1/2 finger thick light tan head. Very little lacing. Aroma is full of esters and toasted malt. Lots of malt in the flavor with some noticeable bitterness to give it a bite. Medium to full body. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. A good BW. Thanks Andy. (Rating #949) Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Mar 13, 2007 Sampled at the O-Town throwdown. Murky light brown color with tiny off white head. Nice sweet and dark fruit barleywine aroma. The flavor hits first with smooth dates, plums and caramelized malts. As the taste finishes the brew provides a warming sensation. High level of Yummy-ness. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Mar 10, 2007 bottle-2006. Man, this one suprised me. I was expecting something pretty bad gauged buy "friends" ratings of this beer. lightly hazy bright amber with a small smooth small bubble head. carmel, earthy hops, light must, and alchohol on the nose. Pretty interesting nose, even if its pretty simple for a barleywine. big carmel fruity malts on the start of the flavors, which are dried out by a wonderful earthy and lightly resinous/dirty hop note on the finish. must use chinook or EKG on this one. definatley have a resionous hop presence. body is lush with very fine carbonation and slick mothfeal. I dig this one! Would make a GREAT aging barleywine and has characteristics of SN bigfoot in the hop profile. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Mar 7, 2007 Pours a deep copper color with a thin head.Sweet fruit aroma. The alcohol was present here but not overwhelming. The dark fruits appeared to balance it out.A small alcohol burn at the end, but overall a good brew.
