Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 7, 2006 A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty again with caramel being most dominant, but also the alcohol showing itself off with a slight burn. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 5, 2006 Bottle. Amber colour with a tan head. Caramel malty, hoppy, light alcoholic aroma and taste, sweet. Medium body with a sweet finish. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 3, 2006 Updated: Feb 18, 20082006 Bottle. Good malty aroma and clear brown color and thin head, slight swrill. Good flavor that is slightly hoppy. Hints of cherry/raspberry aftertaste(good but odd). Smooth with a little alcohol burn. Pretty good barley wine. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 3, 2006 Bottle.
Clear orange red coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of caramel, hops and pine needles.
Flavour of caramel, hops and pine needles. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Dec 3, 2006 Bottled. Amber coloured. Uncelar. Light brown head. Sweet and fruity aroma. Alcohol and some vinous notes. Quite dense. Flavour is somewhat spiced. Is quite herbal and full of alcohol. Fruits. Medium to full bodied. Alcoholdense herbal bitterness in end. Long lasting. Thanks to Sammy for this. lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA Dec 2, 2006 Brown body with red accents and an average beige head. Aroma of dark fruits and bready malt. Flavor is similar to aroma at ifrst but with a little bitter hop finish. Not bad but something not quite right in the balance.... the hop character mixing strangely with the bready maltiness. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Dec 1, 2006 Bottled. Hazy copper coloured. Almonds, toffee and marzipan aroma. Very sweet and very alcoholic flavour and finish. Rather unbalanced and uncomplex for a barley wine. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Nov 24, 2006 22 oz bomber: An interesting brew. Good, but not great. Something about it wasn’t quite right. Don’t know how to describe it, but somthing just wasn’t quite what it should be. Not exactly skunked, but just off. A little too bitter, despite a malty flavor.
