Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Jul 30, 2005 I have had my bottle for some time, not even sure how long. Poured Deep amber, with a off white creamy head. Aroma of earth, wood, vanilla, bourbon. Taste had all plus caramel. The alcohol was present, almost a distraction. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 14, 2005 Pour deep mahogany amber with thin dense khaki head...smell is quite hoppy with some sweet caramel notes...taste was richly hoppy and very piney...bittersweet alcoholic finish... jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2005 Clear dark amber with a thick beige head. Beautiful aroma of wood, a ton of hops and caramel. Flavor has notes of toasted malt, toffee, wood, caramel, light chocolate and a big dose of hops which works very well in this beer. Pleasantly sweet and as previously stated, plenty of hops to balance it out. Nice warming alcohol presence detected on the back end. Medium/full body with moderate carbonation. Loved it! kennyo (4), purdys, New York, USA does not count Jul 7, 2005 dark copper color, pours with big head that disapates quickly, aroma is malt//sherry/alcohol, taste is sweet malt/alcohol.
