Deep orange color, quite red, actually. Thin head but great longevity of straggler bubbles. Aromas of sweet caramel, bubble gum, pineapple candy sticks, banana Now and Laters, and raisin. Flavors of big, chewy malts, more of the bubblegum, caramel...strong alcohol presence, almost liquor-like. Average lacing; a bit watery on the finish. The hops are nicely floral in the middle, but the finish is more bitter than I'd like, almost to the point of astringency. The finish smooths out as the beer warms (or I am less perceptive due to hop and ABV numbing). Not a bad one, but not my favorite beer, nor my fav style.

Bomber. Ruby pour, light beige head. Overdone hops and malt, nose edging off from wort and incorporating a big dose of aged semen (try it sometime!). Some juicy pumpkin squeezings and pumpkin seeds. Taste of dry resin and hops, a little gritty with orange citrus. Medium-full body, thick with caramel and orange rind. Noticeably more aggressive than the Bearded Pat’s I’d had moments before. In the end, nice, but I’d still go for a Bigfoot.

Bottle. Pours an orange-brown body with a small white head. Aroma of hops, oranges, sugar, toasty caramel, and some dark malts. Thick alcoholic palate- resinous and generally hops flavour for the most part. Moderately balanced but it’s also quite alcoholic.

2004 release: Dark orange with tiny specks. Ivory-tinted lathery and rocky foam. Saliva-inducing honeysuckle, bready malt and earthy hop aroma. Lightly sappy and citrusy. Soothingly lush with soft carbonation. Impeccably conditioned. Sappy and clingy upfront, perfectly balanced by a brash sweep of earthy hops. Clean sprucey alcohol lends just enough dryness to balance the sweetness, but never detracts. Notable gullet-warmth, as well. Minute astringency, with a mere hint of dried leather and dates. Honeyed oranges lend more suppleness, while muffling the alcohol and softening the pungent lemon oils and grapefruit hop explosion. Deceptively plump and malty through and through, however, with a husky tease toward the latter half. Bitter orange peels are smoothed over by a silken malt bedding at the finish. Glory be to bottle-conditioning; at just over a year old, there’s not a single trace of oxidation. Should continue to age well.

2006 Pours copper with a light tan head. The aroma has rich caramel and toffee, very heavily toasted malt with lots of the typical barleywine mustiness and alcohol presence. Thich body that is rich and smooth with minimal sharp carbonation. Flavor starts with thick sweet malt with some earthy woody hops - thick and tasty. There is some sugary aspects here as well. The finish has more of a hop presence, bit of an abv burn and lingering thick malt and woody hops. Very nice and enjoyable.
