Ruby hints abund on a deep orange body without head. Powerful scotch ale aroma with lots of peat, light alcohol, a moderate amount of caramel plus hidden apricot and peaches in the background. Grapey vinous palate, alcoholic, very english sentiment. Rather high carbonation, slightly astringent, thin-medium bodied. Perhaps a bit straightforward, but a well-made example that I’d definitely buy if I was in NH, but not necessarily if I had a MA or NY selection.

Hazy, copper ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. Excellent, ink-blot lacework. The nose is doughy, malty and hoppy with notes of maple syrup, apricot, grapefruit, toffee and alcohol. Within the flavor, the hops are abundant and more than moderately bitter. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, alcoholic, bitter finish.

Pours a clear copper orange with a nice off-white head. Aroma is bold and hoppy, with plenty of sweet caramel malt to back it up. Starts with a nice sweetness, then some hoppy bitterness before a clean smooth finish that hides the alcohol very well. Has nice complexity. Reminds me a lot of Bigfoot, but not quite as balanced.

22oz bottle-pours a retaining light tan head and amber/copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary pine hops. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary pine/metallic hops, alcohol. Slick mouth feel which changes to a dry finish. Sipping, occasional. Thanks decaturstevo for sharing.

Bottled. Hazy copper coloured. Almonds, toffee and marzipan aroma. Very sweet and very alcoholic flavour and finish. Rather unbalanced and uncomplex for a barley wine.
