Fair amount of hops on the nose with woody and fruity scents. Taste is quite a large barleywine flavor. Large fruit and heavy wood taste. This is a good barleywine. Dark fruit smell emerges as it warms. Nice. RCL (1486), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

It’s like fruits from the mesozoic with prehistoric pine boughs. This is beer would go well with woolly mammoth. TheEpeeist (1476), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Medium body with a mild tang. Taste is buttery caramel but mostly bitter grass. Pretty good but a little one-dimensional. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2003 Very nice sweet malty aroma, some hops. Poured a deeper reddish amber color, slightly hazy, moderate creamy tan head. Flavor was quite sweetwith some alcohol and bitter hops in the finish. Pretty big body, surprisingly only 7%. Quite good, though. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2004 Hazy, copper body with a thin, off-white head. Sweet malt and sharp hops dominate the nose. Caramel, toffee, pine, grapefruit and sweet oranges. The body is average. The flavor shows the strength of the hops and the alcohol. The malt tries to fight through, but the extreme bitterness of the hops and the warmth of the alcohol just dominate. The finish is just pure bitterness and burning alcohol. Not my favorite Barleywine but it could have been better. asheft (1438), Marburg, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2005 Cloudy, brownish, cherry-red with a wispy, thin filmy head and a very thin ring of tightly packed white bubbles. Spicy malt aroma with a sour, buttery character. In terms of flavour, mostly spicy malt with some pine and citrus hops, some notes of apricot and grape, and a clean, bitter finish. Medium body that is a bit inadequate. adrian910ss (1435), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Small head that tappered quickly. Sweet, bitter and astringent. Creamy, with linguring bitter finish, again bit astringent. Nice job overall, though the ABV seems more than 7%
