Not deep copper in color, more like murky brown, like it has substance. Nose is sweet and malty, like a concoction of toffee and rich fruity syrup.A little raw but sweet and good with the hops coming up to the front and not allowing the sweetness to overwhelm the flavor

this was more like an IPA than a BW if you went on just flavors. lots of hops, pine, carmel, and kind of a bread-y kind of feel.

22oz bottle: Lightly hazy bright red & amber colored body with a tiny tan head that quickly dies. Medium carbonation, sticky and slick. This has one of the best aromas I’ve encountered from a barleywine. It’s fruity, hoppy, and sweet with notes of apple, cherry, plum, berries, citrus, mint, alcohol, spice, carmel, toffee, pineapple, dough, and wood. The taste is complex, and really progresses nicely as you drink it. There’s notes upfront of fruit, berries, grapefruit, pineapple, and sweet malt. The hops make their presence felt towards the middle, as Indra noted, giving you bitter & spicy flavors of citrus, grapefruit rind, grass, flowers, and berries. Towards the end the hops back off just a bit, allowing the peppery alcohol, caramel, toffee, raisin, and toasted, syrupy malt flavors to come through. Finishes very hoppy with grain and alcohol; sticking to your mouth. A classic american barleywine here.

22oz bomber closet aged for 2+ years. Thick, murky, orange-brown color with some patchy white lace for a head. Alcohol-laced caramel aroma. The flavor is sugary sweet and buttery, shows some aging. The low almost flat lost carbonation hurts the beer a little, taking away the drinkable balance it had fresh. Not one to age out for extended periods. Woody, piny hops, syrupy sweetness. Good stuff, but way better fresh.

Bottle. Beautiful looking beer, nice copper, brown color with a medium beige head with nice lacing. Aroma is quite hoppy. Flavor is also hoppy, but it has a very good malt balance. String alcohol afterburn with a nice warming effect.

Ruby copper hue. Sweet earthy, spicy nose. Creamy beige head. Sweet, light malts first, medium bodied, finishes with an almost unbearable bitterness. A light robitussin flavor. Nothing spectacular here. Weighs in a little light for the style, yet masks alcohol well. Not too shabby. I wouldnt buy this again.

Sept. 2006 - Beer poured cider brown with next to no head or lacing. Aroma was pine and alcohol. Flavor was really strong fruity, malty base with a lotta lot of pine hop bitterness in the finish. A strong alcohol burn astringency was the only downside. Really "BIG" beer in all aspects.
