Good amount of bitterness throughout which balances the alcohol quite well. A decent barleywine, which I think benefited from being laid down for a year. bruno1378 (121), Epping, New Hampshire, USA

Full bodied, resiny texture.

Poured into a nice warm dark orange hazy with a thin head on top. Aroma of apricot, spice and heavy malt. Flavor is a tastey natural barley wine. Lots of malt that gets in my mouth and really sticks to the palate. Earth notes and some sweeter tones come out over time as the alcohol presence seeps in a bit further. All aroun good stuff, wish I could find this in Ohio during the snowey nights. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Small head that tappered quickly. Sweet, bitter and astringent. Creamy, with linguring bitter finish, again bit astringent. Nice job overall, though the ABV seems more than 7% ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2007 22oz bottle. Dark plum colored body, lightly opaque. Rich, sticky plum and black cherry malts, heavy hop presence, high bitterness, reminds me of Bigfoot with a few years in the cellar. Sweet maraschino cherries and assertive hops in the nose, very nice smell. Very sweet up front, with pear, plum and fruit cocktail sugars, a little more tempered over the middle, still sweet but not cloying, and finishes sharp and bitter, but very flavorful and rich. Texture is prickly and snappy, with a lingering cherry flavored tobacco flavor. Very good, but a little too sweet.
