2006: usual reddish brown body. Small to moderate head, decent to good lacing on the glass. Good aroma here, lotsa fruity hops with a big caramel malt base. Flavor was less impressive though. Felt off balance and there was quite a bit of alcohol in the finish. Not drowned in it, but much more than I prefer. Bitter finish with a syrupy mouthfeel. Not bad overall.

Slightly bigger hop flavor than what I’m used to. Cloudy dark orange color. Fruity plum aroma. Slightly hot alcohol flavor. Full bodied with a slightly chalky texture and finish.

Sampled a 2003 vintage, thanks to RichLikeBeer. The oxidation was fairly present in this one but it worked well with the big malt profile that I tasted in this beer. I really could pick up on much hops at all, and that would be the biggest downfall to this brew, but maybe they ae a little more present in fresher bottles. Overall it was a pretty good beer.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pors a stunning deep brown amber. Big sweet hop aroma. Started off a little harshwith an alcohol burn but got much better as it warmed up. Piney hops, brown sugar toffee. Pretty good

Smooth, chewy, weighty. Sweet-smelling. Malts were sweet, with notes of chocolate-covered caramel and syrup. Very warming and cozy. Grassy bitterness. Perhaps a little oxidized, but it didn’t bother me so much under all the other weight.

Beer pours copper color with red highlights and has a fairly small rapidly diminishing off white head. Aroma is sweet malt with a nice dose of hops thrown in. A bit floral and aged in the nose. Flavor is initally pretty sweet. Finish is a bit purfumey from the hops. Decent.

Deep reddish orange. Thin creamy and resilient head. Nose has maple, lots of caramel, quite malty, typically barleywine sweet. Sweet and malty, some hops, a bit sour. Isn’t quite as full as I’d like. Alcohol also a mite overly noticeable. Decent.
