Good copper color with a small head that vanishes, leaving lacing behind. Taste of sweet caramel, malt, and alcohol, balanced with adequate west coast citrus hops but not strongly hopped. Warmly alcoholic but not unbalanced. Sweet but without the off-putting cherry / bubblegum. Like most barley wines, this one is too strong and too simple for me, but not bad. I like their wheat wiine much more. jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

Aroma is hoppy with a burnt caramel malt backing. Flavor is of big piney hops, and a malty caramel backing. The alcohol gets to be a bit to much at points. Its nice but double digit ABVs are usually justified by deep, complex flavor which this lacks making it a nice but average barleywine with added alcohol. omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA

The flavor was hoppy with a sweet malty finish. Mild woody/nutty overtones and a little bit of caramel in there, too. ruffian (149), montvale, New Jersey, USA

I would have guessed the alchol was closer to 10 than 7 and it could have been better hidden. (still there but aging has helped) rerate from 12-15 DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
