I found this to be very smooth with the alcohol well hidden, I am sure the aging had much to do with that.Sweet and rich flavor, with hints of raisins and dark berries. This is of the more cognac/wine like barley wines, as opposed to the hoppy types. Barrios (861), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Bright amber, smallish bubbly top
Aroma: Strong, potent hoppy nose. Quiet rich malty accents. Good clean alcohol below.(7+)
Potent kick of alcohol and hops. Green leaf , light citric hops . Sweet malt and alcohol at finish. Palate killer. This is big and certainly not shy.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2004 I drank a 22 ounce bomber while home brewing. Heavy fruit (apple) and alcohol nose. Thanks to its low bubbles had an iced tea appearance. At first the cold beer had an overbearing alcohol taste. However, as the barley wine warmed the taste became sweeter. Mild hop bitterenss, but a buxom mouthfeel. Drinking 22 ounces gave me a numbing effect. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

Hops are front and centre here, with some decent malt, caramel and almond. Medium bodied, bitter, pleasant mouthfeel. Pretty good. Ungstrup (15430), Frederiksberg, Denmark

The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty again with caramel being most dominant, but also the alcohol showing itself off with a slight burn. egajdzis (3640), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark ruby to brown in color with no head. Nice sweet red wine-like aroma. Nice hoppy flavor, pretty sweet, wine-like finish that is typical of the style. I don't like barley wines, but this one was pretty good.
