feels like more than 7% alochol. poured a deep copper color, like the description says, tan head good retantion. Aroma was fruity with hints of spices and oak. Taste was sweet at first and than finsihed with a strong, dry hoppy note, seemed to have a very mild smoke flavor in the aftertaste.

Bottle via Hopdog, thx! Hazy refracted sunset orange hue with a lasting frothy light tan head and excellent lace on my snifter. The aroma has notes of leathery and non-aromatic pipe tobacco esters, piney and grassy hops, bready malts, hopleaf, and heather. The taste starts with a smack of sugar and big hop bitters. The midsection is a strong pine influence with citric undertones. The finish is more piney hops, white pepper, corriander and clove. Quite spicy and astringent for sure. The feel is quite biting and sharp, this one is a sipper and not for the meek has iit tastes stronger than the 10% ABV. Wow, I am fully impressed by this release, Mikey likey! Yet another enjoyable barleywine I’ve had over the past daze. Love those holiday weekends.

2004 bottle opened 7 Jan ’06. Clear, deep reddish orange color with a pleasant sized, beige head that is quite dense. The head slowly fades to a ring leaving good lacing behind. Rich caramel aroma with a bit of oxidation mixing with alcohol. Medium to full bodied, gentle carbonation. Initially sweet with pleanty of residual sugars. Moderate to full alcohol and a suprising amount of IBU’s for a beer aged for a year or so. Good balance, nicely crafted BW.

22 oz bomber thanks to slob. Excellent beer I thought. Deep copper color with an excellent head. Aromas were caramel, molassas, bright cherry, raisin. Flavors were similar with an alcoholic middle and a nice hoppy citrus finish. Very Good

2006 bottle. Nice reddish-caramel color with a light-med head. Aroma has lots of caramel, sugar, and a faint bit of citrus/pine hops. Flavor is smooth and sweet with a light hop bite to match an aggressively sweet malt. Smooth and tingly mouthfeel. This one is a classic barleywine that seems to have benefited from two years in the bottle.

22 oz. bottle - november ’07 release; thanks to biegaman for the trade a while back; pours clear, dark orange with foamy tan head fading to small bubbles around the edges; just a beauty; sweet aromas of sugar, spicy hops, alcohol, herbs, dank fruit; drinks very nice with a slight syrup quality to it; very smooth w/ minor touch of heat; a little citrus with mild brown sugar; flavor a little on the light side, but this is a lovely sipper

Pours a dark amber with a medium sized tan head. This one was nice and hoppy with a good citrus kick. Sweet and malty with other fruits going around in this like grapes and strawberries. A bit of raisin in the finish. Thick mouth feel, no hint of the ABV. Very nice!
