| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 3, 2009 22oz bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston. Gold colour, thin head. Massive hoppy aroma. Definitely lots of mandarin orange to go with the herbaceous and the resinous. Orange also to the fore on the palate. Coupled with a warming alcohol presence and a fairly sweet mouthfeel, I find distinct echoes of Cointreau or some other orange liquer. There’s quite a strong bitterness to go with the sweetness that lingers into the aftertaste together with a slightly hot alcohol remnant. Undeniably a big beer with not much room for subtlety. Very tasty but just a touch too sweet, verging on syrupy, for me.

This beer’s 500th rate! Hooray! Pours a clear golden color with a medium frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is beautiful, floral and citrus hop notes with a bit of a resiny bite in the end. Taste is citrus hops with a good amount of bitterness, some floral notes and some nutty malty notes. Medium-full bodied. Good beer. zizzybalubba (399), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA

Aroma is citrusy (grapefruits, some orange) and floral hops. Flavor similar. Definitely enjoyable for what it was. Beerapprentice (130), Hopatcong, New Jersey, USA
