Commercial Description:
For our hopping regime we went with Cascade and Nuggets in the boiling addition. Centennials were added every 5 minutes for the last 30 minutes of the boil. We added Crystals into the whirlpool. Dry hopping was done in both the fermentor after primary fermentation and the bright tank. We used a mixture of Chinook, Nuggets, and Sterlings in the fermentors and whole leaf Centennials in the bright tank.

Pours golden with a big white head. Aromas of tangerine and grapefruit. Flavors are much more subtle of tangerine and grapefruit. Initial sip was bitter but that faded quickly. Overall a very good IPA.

draft @ redlight redlight. Grapefruity piney hops on the nose with hints of pineapple. Pours a pale golden color with a thick white head. Big earthy bitter hops upfront with some grapefruit peel as well as hints of pine with hints of honey in the background. Definitely a hop bomb, and i like! Also its pretty easy to drink for 9%.

bomber... pours a brilliant light golden with a 1 finger white head.... which quickly dissipates to a small lacing... very pleasant citrus hop aroma, although not very strong... really have to search for the nuances of the aroma. medium body full of crisp bitter notes, citrus fruit and more hops. The finish is nice and long with a sticky bitterness through the back. There are more dank and wet hop notes in the end than throughout the rest of the mouth. Not a bad IIPA, clean, bitter and to the point (eventually).

Pours clear orangish color with off white head. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus. Grapefruit hops and sweet malt flavors with some heat from the alcohol. Medium body with average carbonation and a resinous mouthfeel. Another good brew from Smuttynose.

Pours a brilliant pale golden color with a beautiful creamy off white head. No kidding, this head is like whipped cream. Love the look of this beer. The aroma isn’t too shabby either. Sweet melon, grapefruit, pine, a touch of florals, and a little caramel. The flavor is also awesome. Sweet, spicy, thick and resinous. Much more powerful than it looks. Caramel and toffee sweetness up front with a huge piney finish. There are some nice citrusy grapefruit esters in there as well. This was a bit of a surprise for me and I really loved it.

Post Thanksgiving dinner feast. Pours an almost clear orange with a large, pillowy, white head from the 22oz. bottle into a snifter: Aroma is extremely inviting with sweet hops. Flavor has a little more earthiness to it but still holds to that sweet bite, though not as much as the nose. Drinkability: Pleasantly light bodied, softly carbonated and for an IPA, it’s pretty refreshing. Rebuy: Yes. #233 on 29112009, DG.

Bomber from Chevy Chase in DC shared with the ol’ man. Pours a bright slightly hazy golden-orange with a fairly large white head and great lacing. Aroma is nice sweet malt and a blast of citrusy and floral hops. Flavor is really citrusy and resinous with orange, grapefruit, and other light fruits. Very heavy on the hops. Medium-full body for the style but not too syrupy and brutal hops coating your mouth. Really excellent - one of the better east coast DIPAs.

Mostly clear amber pour, billowing white head. Aroma holds mostly hop character, with notes of grapefruit, orange rind, resin, spruce, floral, and a bit of rosemary. Malt is very subtle, with maybe a bit of caramel complimenting the hop. Flavor is heavy with rosemary, evergreen, and resin, along with lighter notes of grapefruit. Malt isn’t particuarly present, but also isn’t particularly necessary; love this kind of hop bomb. Palate is sticky and resinous, but with a drinkable dryness at the finish. Another stellar effort from Smutty.
