hazy gold with a huge soapy off-white head. aroma is spicy with peach, lemon, sweet corny malts, and grass clippings. palate is lively with carbonation. flavors bring out grass, alcohol, light colored fruits, hay. sweet and boozy. too syrupy. not really refreshing like i imagine a great saison should be. a little around the edges.

Cask@GBBF2009. Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity and flowery notes along with some mildly earthy notes. Mild barnyard as well. Flavour is quite much the same, but lacks some spicyness to be a really good Saison.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Amber color, white head. Slightly tart mango fruity aroma with hints of orange and strawberry. Sweetish, lots of kandisugar, light tartness, mango and apricot. Short fruity-sugary finish. A bit too sweet for being enjoyable.

Bottle from Sam’s. Pours hazy gold. Nose of yeast, mild orange/citrus, and moderate spice. Clove and banana as well. Surprising alcohol presence on nose. Fruity and sweet. A bit of hops. Dry finish, but overall still too sweet. Pretty typical American take on the style.

Cask, GBBF 09. Hazy gold with a small head. Aromas are caramel and wheat with citrus notes. Flavours are sweet caramel and cream with soft spices. Mellow lemon with pineapple and sweet addictive hops. Warming alcohol on the finish. Very pleasant.

Cask@GBBF, 2009. Bright/cloudy golden beer. The aroma is very fruity and sweet, and the flavour is vinous, fruity, gently hopped and dry. Overall a very nice drinkable fruity and gently hopped beer.

Cask gravity at GBBF ’09. This kicked off the second day. Slightly hazy copper colour. Sour fruity aroma with a hint of the floor polish they used when I was at school. And a bit of bacon. Taste is sweet and sugary, perhaps too much so. A little dryness. Complex and interesting.

Pours a straw gold with some haze with two fingers offwhite head sitting atop. Aroma displays a definitive yeast character with spicy notes and some phenol coming through. Very citrusy in the nose as well with notes of ripe orange and citrus rind with a mildly grassy background. The flavor is very fruity with upfront citrus rind and earthy yeast, spicy notes and a dry finish. Flavor doesn’t have as many distinctive tiers of character as the aroma does. Palate is dry with a nice citrus rind bitterness.
