Commercial Description:
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Pours a very light orange color. Snow white head dissipates somewhat quickly. Very fizzy. Lemony aroma with a touch of hay. Extreme hop flavors. Grapefruit. Very bitter at the end. Very fizzy on the palate. Light body. Overall not bad. Would prefer more malt to balance this out. WAY more bitter then 65 IBUs.

Pours amber with a two-finger white head. Subdued aroma of citrus and pine. Hoppy flavor, pine, some citrus, light caramel backbone. Bitter finish. Medium carbonation. A nice IPA overall.

Dark amber with a tall, cream colored head. Tart citrus aroma with a bitter finish. Thicker than I would expect. Powerful hops--a little taxing.

Very cloudy with wonderful lacing upon drink. Im not overall impressed with the taste and palate due to the bitter hops that leave an overwelming / lasting taste in the mouth. I’m an IPA guy and overall I like this IPA. Good... very good... not great!

Clear, golden orange with a tight lasting whitish foam, some small floaties. Aroma is a thin maltiness, caramel, toast, mostly hoppy, spicy and herbal. Taste is strong hoppiness, spicy, pine, bitter, only a little sweet maltiness, not enough to hold up the bitterness.

Draft. Crystal clear golden pour, stark white foam, decent foam and lacing. Citrusy nose, some toasted malt hiding in there too. Somewhat astringent bitterness and a bit thin.

Bottle. Pours dark golden with white head and lots of lacing. Taste is citrus, grapefruit, pepper/basil? It’s different but I just don’t care for it. Good amount of hoppiness though.
