beernovice39 (237), South Carolina, USA Nov 5, 2009 Dark brown pour. Sweet sugary smell. Boozy taste. Knew this one would be for the wife and the rating is all her’s.......sigh....just not into this style. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Nov 4, 2009 Dark amber color with a small head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, yeast and spice with some faint dark fruit. Flavor is sweet and balanced and very drinkable. Enjoyable the whole way through. Some spice and sweet malts with some dark fruit, plum and fig notes. BrianDorry55 (115), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bomber bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an impressive dark red-brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is caramel and toffee...nice, but not too strong. Flavor is delicious; toffee, caramel, and tootsie roll. Thick, smooth, and warms the palate. Overall, this beer is delicious...the best Quad ive had...also noteworthy that about 5 other guys tried it...none of which are experienced craft beer drinkers...and all of them were begging for another sip...always a good sign. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Nov 2, 2009 (bottle - 22 oz - 2009 vintage) Clear ruby color with a thick off-white head. Clear medium red brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, raisisn and plum notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090724] kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 29, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark amber body with a frothy light brown head that retained well due to the carbonation. The nose is heavy dark fruits like fig and raisin with some caramel and brown sugar sweetness below. Light alcohol noticeable. Quite sweet, but also dense with the dark fruits and maltiness. There’s a nice yeast profile to this also. Brown sugar, caramel, light alcohol, and maybe even a bit of chocolate on the finish. Full and thick on the palate with soft gentle carbonation. This is as good as I was expecting, well done, but almost a completely different style from the classic Belgian Quads. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Aroma was sweet with dark fruit, caramel, raisins and some molasses. Flavor was sweet and malty with caramel, raisins, brown sugar, toffee, dark fruit sweetness and had a smooth medium to full body. A good offering from smuttynose. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 11, 2009 Apperance: dark brown with a tiny off white head. Aroma: Sweet toffee, caramel, spice, lemons, raspberries.
