Sweet caramel malt aroma mixed with dark fruit, primarily cherry and plums. Flavor matched. Perhaps just a touch sweet for my tastes, but a nice beer overall. jredmond (1068), New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 8, 2009 Draft at Rattle N Hum. Pours a dark, hazy blackish-brown. Taste is sweet, prune, raisin and other dark fruit. A bit too pruney for my taste CheersMate1 (851), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 Picked up at Greens on Ponce De Leon in Atlanta. Nice dark caramel brown in color. Hold it up to the light and there is a red hue. NIce dark apperance. Wow, a very sugar sweet, and fruity taste. Very very sweet. Smooth palate. As my fellow Georgian below me has said this has a fruit juice sweetness, but I feel that this is both in the aroma and in the taste as well. Aroma is not that pungent. Just a very sweet ABT, but doesn’t have that alcohol or yeast presence I was hoping for. Too sweet of an abt/quadrupel if you ask me. rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2009 The beer was dark red in color, and looked good despite a head smaller than typical for the style. The smell was a mix of dark skinned fruits and spices, but was not as strong as most other beers of this style. The taste was much simpler than I like, as the fruit juice like sweetness was dominant over other tastes. There wasn’t much spiciness or bitterness present to counterbalance the pleasing but one dimensional flavor. The beer also felt oddly thin in the mouth. I’d say that this is a couple steps behind the other Smuttynose big beers I’ve sampled thus far. unclemattie (2439), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 20/20 | May 3, 2009 22oz bottle. Enjoyed from a Chimay Glass. Deep reddish \ brown, mahogany color, tan head. Aroma of candy, rum, raisins, dark fruit, and heaven. Super sweet flavor. Huge flavor of raisins and honey. Some fruitiness as well. Like a spread made of pureed raisins in a honey base. To me this is a breakfast beer. Keep your Coffee Imperial Stouts, I’ll have the Quad for Breakfast. Yum-a-Dum-Dums. Soft and smooth finish. Very creamy texture. Nice and cheewy. Very full flavored. It seems to have a lower ABV than most Quads which makes this one a quite bit easier to drink. SSSteve (2104), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2009 Bottle. Mahogony beer with a tan head. Malty/yeasty aroma with light darker malts. Caramel and raisin flavor with yeast and lots of dried fruit. Medium-plus bodied. Dried fruit lingers with toffee and yeast. A bit rough around the edges - time will mellow nicely. craftbeerdesign (766), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2009 Bomber... awesome quad from Smuttynose.... they continue to impress me with their beers... this pours a dark brown with a nice off white head. Big raisin notes from the aroma through the finish. That 200 lbs of raisin puree in each batch really shines through and give the beer a wonderful flavor. Medium body with dark fruit, big malts and tons of raisin. Very drinkable quad... not too heavy on the alcohol so it’s less of a sipper in that sense but can be sweet.
