Fairly large off white head, but does disappear fairly quickly to a ring. Does stick to the glass a bit. Lots of brown sugar and malt in the aroma. Taste is almost cloyingly sweet at first. Brown sugar, raisin, candied plum or dark fruit of some sort. Some biscuity body. As it warms up the candied sweetness fades and is more malty/molasses sweet. Lively enough mouthfeel. Not really any hop presence in this throughout. Not my fave, but certainly above the average and drinkable on a descently warm spring night. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2009 High hopes for this quad, especially after smelling it. Lots of yeasty, rich plum aromas, with a nice raisin backing, some orange, and a fine peppery tint. The flavor profile of the beer, however, is exceedingly sweet. For a quad to have this candi sugar aggressiveness, to me it’s unforgivable. The delicate aromas are lost on the heavy-handed, slick palate and cloying finish. Furthermore, the high alcohol does little to elevate the flavors here. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

It feels thick in the mouth with a big raisin flavor that sits on your tongue and hangs out for a long while. Good! emerica56 (587), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Updated: Jun 8, 2009Pours a dark amber color with a reddish tint, and there is a thin head and some spotted lacing along the sides of the glass. the nose is full of caramel malt and some floral hops but the caramel overpowers it. The flavor is nice and robust with some bitter notes that bite your tongue and a toffee stickiness that sticks to your palate like a beer glue. Overall it has a nicely balanced body with the right amount of carbonation. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
