| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2009 22oz from Chevy Chase Wine, D.C. Nice garnet pour, slightly dusky brown at the edges. Decent 1-finger head, which quickly dissipates but leaves some moderate lacing. Sticky malts and raisins dominate the nose. The body is a bit too thin and slick. Figs and currant blend with the caramel, mild smoke in the finish. Pretty nice warming beer, but perhaps a bit too one-dimensional. southamptonsam (81), New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Mahogany with a nice tan head. Too many off tastes to be a great quad. A bit too sweet. But the more I sip it and compare it in my mind to other quads, the more I like it. BREWMUSKCLES (1080), New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2009 VERY NICE BEER it is an inventive and demonstrative brew indeed. a honey, vanilla, caramel, i dunno just a genuine sweetness with appropriate but low volume of spice that i appreciate combined with a great malt flavor that has a raisin, prune and plum fruit character and full chewy and slick mouthfeel that a Belgian could be envious of. this brew could turn people on to the style. a nice looking brown elixer with interesting highlights and a nice light brown cap. best abt/q i ever had! beachbum25 (797), Powellville, Maryland, USA

Sweet Belgian aroma. Big brew, flavors of dark fruit. candied sugar, toffee, raisins, & roasted malt. Had a lot of carbonation; alcohol was quite evident, but not in a bad way. Definite after dinner sipper, would go well sitting around the fire w/a fine cigar! Long sweet finish ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Bottle. Dark red colored pour with a tan head that goes away pretty quick. Smell is sweet, fruity with some cherries perhaps, sugar, some malt, yeast. Taste is sweet and fruity , no alcohol detected, lively body with CO2. Pleasing to drink, very good fresh, no need to age this one. I am always partial to Smutty, and this is no exception. I may pick up some more of these, nice stuff. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured deep mahogany with a yeasty cherry nose. This had some decent depth to the flavors and is a pretty good take on the style. I tasted Cherry flavor may have been a bit overpowering, but I guess it was more raisin than cherry. The alcohol is blended nicely, but with too much sweetness, could see this possibly being a bit cloying. Would like to age one and re-rate.
