Bottle thanks to SoLan and Beerlando. Pour is deep brown with thin tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, dark fruits, brown sugar, raisins, and light alcohol. Flavor is sweet dried fruit and malt up front with a pruney spicy finish. A solid quad, but quite a lot milder than some others. It did pack a bit more punch than expected.

Draft at Craft. Pours ruby edged with a dark brown body and off-khaki head. Nose is a pleasant medley of figgy fruit, raisins, cherry, blackberry, briown sugar. It is verty complex, with an above average density and flavor notes of dark malt, heavy raisins, berry, and some spicy yeast. This one is great.

22oz bomber from Shaw’s. Pours a translucent dark copper body with a thin film of quickly dissipating tan head. Raisin, date, nut, brown sugar, with a touch of pith and citrus in the aroma. Raisin, date, chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, toffee and coffee toward the finish. Medium in body with ample carbonation. Very drinkable for the style, abv, and complexity. A very good quad, tasty, balanced, complex, and drinkable for the style. Another slam-dunk from Smuttynose!

Bomber. Poured clear ruby with an easily-resuscitated cap of tan head. The aroma was chock full of golden raisins, with caramel and other fruity sweetness present.. touches of vanilla and rum on the back.. spicy warmth was down there, but was well-masked. Sweet again in the flavor department.. raisins, honey, and caramel primarily, with lesser vanilla and toffee.. some spicy, tart cherry dust and mild peppery yeast on the back.. warms up through the finish. Heavier-bodied with enough carbonation to keep it moving across the palate.. too sweet with too much raisin in here, not letting the yeast shine.. still a solid brew, though.

Pours a nice dark copper color with a creamy head. Nice floral aroma with hints of cherries. A very good quad.

Bottle. Aroma of dark fruits and candy sugar. Flavor continues in a sweet manner with all these sweet notes. Neither complex nor robust, which is actually somewhat forgiving given the sickly sweet nature of it. Still can’t really upgrade it for that though. Pretty poor.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with just a bit of red illumination when held against light. Moderate tan head that lasted until mid-glass and left just a bit of lace. Mild aroma of brown sugar, raisins, and some alcohol notes. The flavor is brown sugar, figs, raisins and just a bit of molasses. Definitely a sweet beer, which is perfectly fine with me. I’m not really detecting any of the Belgian yeast described on their label, but I am enjoying this beer nonetheless as it is.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 06/29/2009. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a medium creamy light brown head. Sweet rum soaked fruit and molassas with some spiciness. Very sweet rum soaked fruit flavor with some molassas, spice and candi sugar. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.
