Pours a mostly clear dark amber body with a frothy light brown head that retained well due to the carbonation. The nose is heavy dark fruits like fig and raisin with some caramel and brown sugar sweetness below. Light alcohol noticeable. Quite sweet, but also dense with the dark fruits and maltiness. There’s a nice yeast profile to this also. Brown sugar, caramel, light alcohol, and maybe even a bit of chocolate on the finish. Full and thick on the palate with soft gentle carbonation. This is as good as I was expecting, well done, but almost a completely different style from the classic Belgian Quads.

Cloudy dark amber color. Aroma of yeast, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, mild toasted malt, almost Port wine like sweetness. Full bodied with a thick texture. Heavy sweet flavor. Lingering fruity sweet finish. 5000 (2800), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle:   Very heavy amber, moderate to large foamy beige head, decent lacing.   Heavy malty nose, bready, rather sweet, subtle dark pitted fruit.   Not as heavy on the tongue as the nose suggests, but still rather robust.
Good combination of dark pitted fruit, breadiness, and even some licorice.   Reminds me of Gouden Carolous Noel crossed with a Dubbel and a Quad.   Perhaps a little on the sweet side, and not very big and robust.   Its
like a 1/2 Quad or something.   Either way, I would say its almost sessionable.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering licorice, dark pitted fruit, and a malty breadiness.   Entertaining and certainly different.
I rather enjoyed it, even if I don’t think it is a real Quad caliber.   Thanks Jeff!

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Boozy sweet aroma. Caramel and some fruit: berry and raisin. Sweetness is overpowering in the aroma and distracts a bit. Body is not as full and complete as I would like. Decent overall. radiomgb (2073), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-chestnut color with a large foamy orange-beige head. The aroma had a whole lot going on, starting sweet and nutty and possessing notes of ripe cherries, port, wood, and cocoa. The flavor was equally complex with a tart and tangy base with solid notes of black cherry, molasses, sugar, wood, port wine, pineapple and cocoa. Amazingly complex. The finish was long nutty cherry and cocoa. Full bodied. Amazing. Fred82 (405), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
