The aroma had a whole lot going on, starting sweet and nutty and possessing notes of ripe cherries, port, wood, and cocoa. The flavor was equally complex with a tart and tangy base with solid notes of black cherry, molasses, sugar, wood, port wine, pineapple and cocoa. Amazingly complex. The finish was long nutty cherry and cocoa. Full bodied. Amazing. amp811 (38), Charleston, South Carolina, USA

A really big beer that will take you for a ride on the delicious train. Anyone a fan of fruity notes in a Belgian style beer should pick this one up. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA

22oz bomber from Shaw’s. Pours a translucent dark copper body with a thin film of quickly dissipating tan head. Raisin, date, nut, brown sugar, with a touch of pith and citrus in the aroma. Raisin, date, chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, toffee and coffee toward the finish. Medium in body with ample carbonation. Very drinkable for the style, abv, and complexity. A very good quad, tasty, balanced, complex, and drinkable for the style. Another slam-dunk from Smuttynose! ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

It feels thick in the mouth with a big raisin flavor that sits on your tongue and hangs out for a long while. Good! dzzz333 (21), Elkton, Maryland, USA

My thing being "fruity flavored beers" this one was amazing! For me the Aroma and Flavor I gave a 9 and tis Dark fruit/rum/toffee flavor shined out at me from the minute I first sipped the beer out of the snifter...Great beer...its a buy it againer. SHOUT OUT 2 GABE for introducing me to the QUADS..HOLLA. unclemattie (2425), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 20/20 | May 3, 2009 22oz bottle. Enjoyed from a Chimay Glass. Deep reddish \ brown, mahogany color, tan head. Aroma of candy, rum, raisins, dark fruit, and heaven. Super sweet flavor. Huge flavor of raisins and honey. Some fruitiness as well. Like a spread made of pureed raisins in a honey base. To me this is a breakfast beer. Keep your Coffee Imperial Stouts, I’ll have the Quad for Breakfast. Yum-a-Dum-Dums. Soft and smooth finish. Very creamy texture. Nice and cheewy. Very full flavored. It seems to have a lower ABV than most Quads which makes this one a quite bit easier to drink. craftbeerdesign (755), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2009 Bomber... awesome quad from Smuttynose.... they continue to impress me with their beers... this pours a dark brown with a nice off white head. Big raisin notes from the aroma through the finish. That 200 lbs of raisin puree in each batch really shines through and give the beer a wonderful flavor. Medium body with dark fruit, big malts and tons of raisin. Very drinkable quad... not too heavy on the alcohol so it’s less of a sipper in that sense but can be sweet. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 4, 2009 Bomber bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an impressive dark red-brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is caramel and toffee...nice, but not too strong. Flavor is delicious; toffee, caramel, and tootsie roll. Thick, smooth, and warms the palate. Overall, this beer is delicious...the best Quad ive had...also noteworthy that about 5 other guys tried it...none of which are experienced craft beer drinkers...and all of them were begging for another sip...always a good sign.
