I thought something died in the glass. Aroma is dead rotten fruit with a hint of caramel. Flavor is infinitely better, but still fairly light and lacking complexixity. I couldn’t get past the aroma though, it made me want to die. Smutty is usually good too.. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 4, 2007 Bottle. Pours a amber/golden color with a moderate sized head. Aroma is somewhat weak, but pretty much all cherry...with some slight yeasty notes. Flavor is sour & tart, cherry, a little yeast. Basically tastes like a beer that had some cherry juice dumped in at the end. It was OK, but nothing I will look for again. kmweaver (2465), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a clear, golden-orange color; white head with patchy lacing. Light, watery cherry aroma. Light carbonation; chewy cherries and red fruits; hints of light tartness / funkiness; yeasty and bready character behind the fruit. Medium, bready and red fruit finish. swoopjones (1917), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 1, 2007 12oz bottle, best before Aug 07. Reddish amber with a fairly large ivory head. Aroma of concentrated fruit juice and a little bit of hops. Flavor is dominated by a sweet-tart cherry flavor. Unique, but i can’t see myself buying it again. Interesting label, as typical for Smuttynose. jgb9348 (2505), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 31, 2007 Nice deep amber coloured body with ruby highlights and a very nice tan head that tops the beer perfectly. Aroma of metal, malt, nuts, cardboard, a bit of smoked peat and a tiny bit of cherries. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour with some cardboard and nuts noticeable up front with a tiny bit of cherries too. Aftertaste shows more malt with some alcohol, yeast and more metal - no cherries really. Overall, this isn’t a great fruit beer and it doesn’t show much else - so you could probably go with passing this one up. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased by my brother-in-law from Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia on 31-March-2007, right after I saw the Cherry Blossoms in Washington in 2007. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Gnarly, like a blend of amber ale and kriek. Has a very distinct sour cherry flavor. Not loving it at all. notalush (2671), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Clear amber pour with a foamy head/lace - lightly sweet aroma of cherries, roses and honey, with some background grainy touches - light bodied - tart and acidic, with little else going on - some light hints of sour cherries (and their pits) and the faintest touch of malts - light vegetal qualities way in the back - tastes like a lambic gone wrong.
