duff (5474), Surrey, Greater London, England Sep 2, 2006 Bottle. A really good imperial stout. Black colour. Lots of roasted malt in the nose. Flavour is off bitter dark chocolate, mocha coffee and perhaps some charcoal. Rich mouthfeel, with a flavour and bitterness that seem to go on forever. hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2006 06’ a shade darker than coca cola. very very small head and only after rigorous pouring. smells sweet and sticky coffee toffe dates alcohol hints of chocolate. very smooth . roasted coffee bean taste not too much going just nice deep roasty sex in the mouth with some good hopness. it finishes smooth with a lsight alcohol kick very slight. very drinkable. maybe not as thick or biting as i’d like from an imp stout in the dead of winter but a perfect fall stout. nah mean Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 22, 2006 Deep, dark brown. Big notes of chocolate, followed by a healthy bitterness of pine and grass. Some roast in the aroma. Earthy. In a way, it seemed more stout-like than imperial stout-like. Pretty good, but not overly complex or deep. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2006 Black with no head what so ever. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate. The taste was thick and kind of syrupy, with the flavors of chocolate and alcohol coming through. I was surprised by the nice crisp hop aftertaste. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 14, 2006 (22oz. bottle, 2006 vintage) Pours a dark brown with highlights of mahogany and a descent sized long-lasting creamy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate ecstasy, citrus, and roasted malt. Flavor of rich dark chocolate malt nicely balanced with hops. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Aug 9, 2006 2006 bottle: Ahh, lovely aroma. Dark chocolate, and big 3C hops, citric and resiny, with some grass. Cherry pie? Flavor bit and sweetish up front with dark chocolate, espresso, roast and ash, with a drying slightly astringent finish. Palate near velvety. Finish shows some hot alcohol to go with the astringency. Perhaps a bit oaky/woody. Oh, and a pretty dark red-brown, smallish head that leaves medium lacing. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 7, 2006 Pours opaque with a small dark brown head, lined lacing that diminishes to spotty lace. Aroma is hoppy pine and flowers, dark roasted malt, coffee, toast and perfumey alcohol. Dark bitter chocolate, roasted malt, toast, doughy yeast, flowers, perfumey alcohol and wood, cocoa finish. Dark bodied, dry but smooth palate. pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 7, 2006 22 oz. Bottle: Thick black color with a light brown head that diminishes rather quickly. You can smell the extra hops in the aroma, they pretty much dominate. But the taste has a pretty strong flavor of coffee beans, dark chocolate and a robust bitterness. Fairly thick in the feel and leaves a strong flavor in your mouth as well as a slight alcohol burning sensation. This is a powerful stout and very enjoyable. Thanks Indiana Red!
