The aroma is simply wonderful. A mix of a top notch 2IPA and a powerfull Imperial Stout. Lot’s of piney hops in the aroma with touches of dades, figs and dark chocolate. Full, chewy and burnt flavour of black chocolate, black coffee, with nots of dades, tobacco and pepper. Extremely full body. Long, long aftertaste of dark unsweetened chocolate, ink, nut-shells and salt. Lot’s of piney burps aftertwards. One of the best Imperial Stouts but not as good as the Expedition Stou, though. daknole (2940), Plantation, Florida, USA

Pours thick black with a light brown head that disapears, but leaves some good lacing. Aroma has lots of vanilla, chocolate and coffee with a bit of caramel and a nice alcohol finish. Taste is roasty and full of vanilla with some alcohol. Lightly cream mouthfeel with some lively bubbles. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2004 Hoppy, roasted coffee and fine chocolate in the aroma. Dead black, pours a huge cappuccino head, plenty of lace. Roasted coffee, chicory and liquorice combined with the hops are a flavour sensation! Full bodied, incredibly bitter, oily, rich, wonderfully balanced, almost chewy. Marvellous!

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2004 Acquired via trade. Pours a deep dark brown (very nearly black) with a thick dark brown head that dissipated slowly. Decent lacing throughout. The aroma raised my eyebrows it was so roasty, with lots of coffee present. Rich-bodied with a strong roasted character, with coffee, hops and a bit of chocolate in the flavor. It could use a little more sweetness for balance though. The finish is lightly bitter and retains the coffee flavor. Overall this is a good Imperial Stout that simply needs a little more depth to be top shelf stuff. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Black body with a small tan head. Typical stout elements: roasted malts & chocolate but very little (if any) coffee flavour. The chocolate flavour is half milk-chocolate, dark bitter black chocolate. A pleasant tobacco leaves complements this initial taste and makes for a nice transition to an avalanche of citrusy hops in the finish. Alcohol remains mostly well hidden except in the finish where it overwhelms the citrus hops. Very well done. I know these strong and heavy beers are bad for me but hey, I treat each day as if it was my last; and one day I’ll be right. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada
