| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2004 Pitch black colour with a nice generous brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, yeast and a bit of coffee-standard for an imperial stout. Strong bitterness up front with a large roasted malt profile with a bit of a coffee and chocolate sweetness. A bit of lactic sour feeling near the end. Aftertaste is fairly bittering for a long period with some chocolate flavours. Overall, not a full-bodied Imperial Stout that I was expecting and not too terribly different than what I'd expect. A decent beer, but not amazing. Definately good to try though! I split this 65 cL bottle with Jon (JonR888710), purchased at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and light pine hops. Flavor is pine, coffee, chocolate, and roasted and burnt malts. Palate is medium bodied and pretty smooth to drink. almost chewy on the palate. Much more body than I would have expected from 7.1% alcohol. Nice Impy.. I enjoyed it.. Volgon (2489), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Deep dark fruit/wine character developing. Still, an Imperial Stout with 7.1% isn't going to be able to compete with the big boys. 11/27/01: It is a rather mellow Imperial Stout. This creamy black liquid goes down smooth and warms you up. After factoring in the alcohol content, price and approaching winter, I realized that I must buy every bottle in New Hampshire. Medium Mouthfeel...Wonderful and Robust. Nice Hearty Malt Foundation, Coffee Roasts and Some Chocolate and Really Nice Robust Hops to Balance This Impy Out. This is Quite Simply a Wonderful Example of What an Imperial Stout Can be All About. 5000 (2429), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2004 Bottle pours black as space, large foamy tannish head, with so-so lacing.   Hops and roasted malts on the nose.   Strong roasted malt character, slight hop bite.   Decent body, alright mouthfeel.   Nothing stands out as this being really fantastic.   Its a good Stout, but just not as heavy as I would have thought for an Impy.   Finishes with a good hop bite, slight roasted maltiness.   No chocolate notes, or hints of soy.   Meh... Thanks goes out to radiomgb for the trade!

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Deep black body, the head is short but an interesting color - kind of purple tan (?), thin lacing. Roasty sweet malt aroma. Taste is somewhat sharp - bitter roasted coffee, dark chocolate, hoppy finish. Thinner body than many other impy stouts. This tastes great with blueberries, raspberries, etc. (I picked this bottle up in New Jersey, Ocotober, 2004) dkachur (2399), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours a slightly murky dark brown color (I got the end of the bottle) with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with light chocolate notes. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a bit of alcohol still noticeable. Medium bodied.
