Commercial Description:
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

(12 ounce bottle - pint glass) pours a golden haze. Has a small head but very thick lacing. Has a hoppy aroma. Taste is hoppy. Light bodied and thin texture. Has soft carbonation, lightly bitter finish. Overall a good ipa.

A fruity nose of elderflowers, pineapple, lemon and basil. Taste contains grape, dandelion and basil. Finish is bitter and alcoholic. I’d like more fruity notes and less bitterness.

Light orange (about 10 SRM) with a thick white head that leaves a nice lacing. Nice hoppy smell with a slight citrus aroma. Nice hop infusion. Not my favorite IPA but the bitter aftertaste with the palate is nice. Reminds me of Hop Stoopid. A good session beer. Nice but not anything to write home about.

Aroma of elderberry and citrus. Appearance is amber with white head. Taste is bitter and sweet with hints of citrus. Overall a very good IPA without being complex.

Pours with a small, white head, orange color, and hazy with small particles beating about. The aroma is no indication of what’s to come, only slightly citrusy. The taste is strongly citrus, with a bitter assault on the palate second to no IPA I’ve had. When I need that burn on my tongue this the one I seek out.

Thin, too watery, light floral hop citrus scent. Not much flavor. Just bitter. Maybe my tastebuds weren’t working but this wasn’t as good as everyone else makes it out to be.
