Commercial Description:
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

120z bottle courtesy of NYbeer, thanks Steven. Poured dark gold, white head. Nice hop aroma. Mild hop bitterness, very drinkable. Not bad.

Cask, BSF at the GBBF. Bright copper, rough translucent white bubbles. Licorice, candied orange peal aroma—big and bright and reaching my nose right out of the glass. Flavor not quite as clean and fresh as the nose. Leafy flavor with some citrus. Not bad, but a bit of a let down after such a pretty start.

Bottle. OK grassy and caramelly aroma. Cloudy copper colour with lots of floating bits. Big stable creamy white head. The flavour is quite bitter, with some malt. Also caramelly, but not as much as the aroma. Good beer, albeit a bit one-dimensional.

Pours a golden-copper with a creamy white head. The aroma is big hoppy and citrusy. The flavor is big hops in the front with a lingering malty finish. This is a citrusy, hoppy beer and is good.....if you like hops! The body is medium with medium carbonation.

Very well balanced and actually surprised me a bit. Citrus hope aroma. Nice hoppy taste without having a bitter finish. This beer will be a new standby to choose.

This IPA poured a golden yellow colour with a bright white foamy head. To the nose there are scents of very sharp hopps, citrus, yeast and grass. First taste was very lemony with flavours of light cough drops and pine. The finish is bitter with the palate continuing with the bitterness foe quite a while. A hopp heads delight.
