Commercial Description:
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Nice brew. Pours orange yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is citrus and pine hops. Taste is creamy caramel with a bitter dry hoppy finish. Would drink again.

Pours a nice cloudy orange with a white head. Nice citrus and some pine hops. Nice malt balance, solid IPA. First beer I have had from them, I am impressed.

12oz. Clowdy orange with a moderate white head. Loads of bitter fruit on the nose with some sweet malt thrown in for good measure. Body follows closely in profile with a bit of caramel, and a fairly dry hops finish. Medium body, a bit soft for my taste... I should probably come back to this one under different circumstances.

Pours golden with decent white head. Nice citrus, grassy hop aroma. Creamy palate. Dry, grassy hop flavor is pretty well balanced with mild malt sweetness. On tap at The Shep’.

Both the nose and mouth came off as crisp but also sweet. There was some nice caramel that balanced the citrus and herb. This was medium-bodied and well-balanced.

Extremely hoppy ipa. Long floral bitter hoped finish. Grapefruit citrus hoped nose and flavor. Huge nose. The bitterness can be a bit overpowering.

12 oz bottle from a trade. Lots of grassy and citrus hops both in the aromas and on the flavor. Full mouth feel and a very nice smooth finish. Very tasty IPA.

Deep copper gold color. 1finger marshmallowy white head with no lacing. Medium bodied and rather smooth. Starts with tingly carbonation followed by a citrusy sweet flavor. Next the hops bitterness comes out in the back of the throat and moves forward and stays with you, for a long time. Some pine flavors find their way to the palate as do the grapefruits. The finish is smooth, dry, and extended. By the time i have all this written the had has vanished on me. Enjoyable IPA
