| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 24, 2009 Updated: Aug 30, 2009Draught, at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn on 22nd July 2009. Gold with white head that lasts some time and gives a fair amount of lacing. Intensely hoppy with huge flavour burst some may find an acquired taste. Herby hops balanced by some floral fruit then deliver a sharp, bitter aftertaste on a zingy mouthfeel. Exquisite, and nice to be re-acquiainted after three years! Even better to have reached the 100 club with this rating!! ** Also enjoyed at Rattle & Hum, under Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA, scoring 8-4-7-4-18. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Bottle. A repeat 6-pack purchase. Not sure why I bought another sixer of this one as I had the opportunity to pick up previous untried Southhampton IPA. Everything you look for in an IPA is present but nothing that makes it stand out for me. This is not a bad IPA but certainly nothing outstanding. syton98 (44), USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Pours golden with some haze. Aroma is bright and hoppy. Taste is full bobies as you know the hops are there. A nice beer on a hot afternoon. A true IPA DeadGirl (243), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2009 On draught at Rattle ’N’ Hum (NYC): Pours a bright golden shade, aroma is all hops. Tastes start out hoppy but then there’s a sour finish that just sits on the palatte for a while. The nose is outstanding but the taste just doesn’t match it... there’s something missing... I think it’s that last punch of flavor I’m constantly expecting. A little let down, but ultimately this beer is not that bad. italarican (170), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Pours a bright, hazy gold with a medium airy white head. Aroma of lemon, floral hops, and butter. Flavor is surprisingly subtle on the hops initially but comes stronger in the finish as it warms. Other flavors of lemon, kiwi, and cologne too. Silky smooth throughout. Thoroughly enjoyable. ben4321 (1054), Rockville, Maryland, USA

A really nice brew, I always enjoy Smutty’s IPA. They do a nice job of hitting on the best parts of the style, and making a really nice IPA.
