fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 13, 2009 Tap at BT last week, I believe this was from a Jim Beam barrel but falls under this listing. Aroma at first of bad bourbon and nothing else. Eventually some coffee crept in. Flavor has a touch more of roasted malt and coffee with a coffee-bourbon finish, but also some overpowering and not very nice bourbon notes. Not sure if there was too much bourbon, or if it was just bad bourbon, but not a winner. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 9, 2009 On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon. Yep. Very strong bourbon. I don’t want to drink this...Flavor is quite bourbony as well but not terribly overpowering. There is some bitter chocolate in the flavor, but it’s still WAY too bourbony. This could have been a good blend of bourbon and the robust porter, but instead the bourbon completely overwhelmed the base beer and made this quite undrinkable.
3/4/6/2/11 (2.6/5) TeamTrappist (363), jericho, New York, USA Apr 9, 2009 Tap at Blind Tiger.Poured a dark brown with no head. Obvious bourbon and syrupy nose with hints of vanilla. Very lightly carbonated with a medium mouthful. Sweet bourbon flavor with some hints of hops. Sweet then dry long lasting finish. A nice porter that improved in the barrel. Holdwine (904), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Nov 30, 2008 On tap at Max’s. Great use of the Jack casks. Mix chocolate, vanilla, oak, Jack, let it warm slightly and enjoy. Powerhouse brew with all sorts of wonderful wintery flavors. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 22, 2008 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pours adeep dark brown/ black. Huge aroma of Chocolate, Jack Daniels, wood. Radek hits on the spot with freshly made chocolate cake. Flavor sort of overwhelms at first. Strong alcohol intensity with woodiness, booziness, hints of vanilla & bourbon. Getting better as it warms here. Flavors are melding together much better. Overall impression moving up evry sip 13, 14, 15. Can I have 15.5? Enjoyable but a sipper. Little more body & this would be unbelievable. Appearance: Dark brown with black tint. Creamy contrasting ring. 3+ Nose: Strong prominent aroma of Jack Daniels. Oak chips , alcohol with chocolate cake.7+ Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Middle is lighter but still filled with oak character of barrel. Jack Daniels all the way. slight tart dryness at finish. Good sipper. blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2008 Draft at Cole’s in Buffalo. Close to Black with a thin, creamy beige head. Bouron aroma with roast, vanilla, and a hint of coffee. Full, smooth body. The initial flavor is sweet bourbon, which gives way so vanilla and woody notes. The finish is long, with a very nice roasted coffee bitterness. Very good. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2008 [1610-20080816] Tap. Whiskey malt aroma is pretty much all whiskey. Dark brown black body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Lots of vanilla wood whiskey malt in the flavour with everything seemingly roasted in a wooden barrel. Full body. Super boozy.

Aside: I totally read jerc’s rating as "still a diva with an eye to the marquis" - which is way off, but very funny...
