Commercial Description:
Maibocks are a traditional Teutonic seasonal specialty. We brew ours to be hugely malty and subtly finished with a variety of continental hops, with an eye-pleasing russet brown color.

A hazy light amber with gorgeous creamy head and lace. Big aroma of elegant sweet, fresh malt, hint of honey, subtle fruit and spicy hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, tons of malty goodness, smooth, toasty (someone mentioned hints of smokiness and I did perceive that as well) with hints of fruit, clean as hell. Spicy/earthy hop and yeast bite. A treat!

22oz bomber. Pours golden with slight orange hue and medium-sized white head. The aroma is grainy and malty with a nice bit of sweetness and a subtle perfumy noble hop quality. The flavor is malty and delicate - a touch of grainy pilsener malt and a nice balancing punch of noble hops in the finish - distinctly "pilsener" bitterness (like hallertauer or saaz?). The finish is medium - balanced between dry and full - with a nice lingering combo of grainy malts and that wonderful bitterness. The mouthfeel is full and nicely carbonated. It feels luscious - like the big-ass European lager that it is. Overall, pretty nice and very good considering the hot weather we had here today. A pleasure to drink - a very nice example of a maibock.

22 oz. bottle from 2007. A slightly hazy gold pour with some floaties and a thick light-tan head. Hints of bananas, pears, honey and vanilla in the sweet, bready aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Sugary and syrupy. Overly ripe pears, bananas, vanilla extract, caramel and sweet malts dominate the flavor. Kinda buttery. Some herbal qualities and hints of warming alcohol throughout. Good beer, but not a style I’m overly fond of.

Poured cloudy orange with a thick tan head. The head was very creamy. The aroma was rum, caramel and honey. Flavor had a great maltiness with vanilla in the mix. This tasted stronger than other Maibocks I’ve had. Great maltiness on the palate as well. This is one of the best Maibocks I’ve had.

On tap. A perfect coppery color with a wonderfully complex nose. I love the sweet malty flavor. Just another affirmation on how wonderful Smuttynose's stuff is.

Smells fresh with a certain toasted spicy scent to it. The main smell is fruity, I think it is banana but not sure. Pours a nice red/orange brown with good off white head that leaves lacing, the head is very frothy and yeasty. The flavor is very nice and complex yet simple. It has a sweet side complimented by slight bitterness. It also has a floral aftertaste and finishes smooth. This is one hell of a beer.

Draft at the Other Room. Poured a nice bown. Some head. Malt and hops, not quite as hearty as I’d like it but pretty decent.

22oz 2008 bomber courtesy of Dyan, thanks for the opportunity. The color of this beer is orange and has an odd brightness to it. It smells yeasty, cloves, malty. The flavors I get are fruits like apples and fruit with acidity. I am sure fans of the style will like this but my palate is still unable to really appreciate lagers.
